Get to Know Tim Johnson
Tim Johnson is Saber Data’s Senior Software Developer and resident AI investigator. When he isn’t supporting software development projects with his technical expertise, he is researching emerging technologies to uncover new avenues for business expansion. A technology insider and key member of the TyRex Family,
there’s plenty about Tim worth getting to know.
Hello, Tim! Tell us about yourself – What’s your background? Where have you worked or studied previously?
You’ve been onboard the team for nearly three years, working on software development and AI-related projects. What excites you about software development and AI technology? Could you share a few highlights you’ve experienced here at Saber Data and as a member of the TyRex Family?
What excites me is the increase in speed and efficiency I’ve experienced working with AI. One of my first projects as an intern was to create an application in a language and framework that I didn’t have prior experience with. Using AI allowed me to learn quickly and deliver the project on time.
What technical specialties are you putting into your work? Are there any specific areas of focus or expansive projects that you’re working on right now?
Currently, I am expanding my knowledge of C# and the .NET framework for a project with one of our external customers. Internally, I am consistently learning new ways to make use of Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI tools to make progress on my work for the TyRex Technology Team’s projects.
While many folks are new to AI, some have experience using it along with other software-based applications, but even fewer understand how the technology is developed. As an industry professional, could you tell us what you think the average person would find interesting in your line of work?
What I find really interesting about technology is how quickly the landscape changes. Tasks and applications that appear to be a poor fit for an AI agent to handle one week might become trivial to implement the next. It’s always exciting to see what new tasks become possible.
At TyRex, we like to say: “We work hard, we play hard, and we continuously foster a caring culture for our employees.” So, when you’re not developing our customers’ software technology here, what hobby do you most enjoy outside of the facility?
As a Texas A&M fan, I really enjoy watching Aggie sports! I’ve met a few friends here at TyRex and we’ll often meet up for a round of disc golf. I also enjoy spending my free time gaming and hanging out with my newly adopted cat, Gustave!

Tim Johnson gained his software background studying Computer Science and Mathematics at Texas State University and completing a web development certification course through the University of Texas. He first joined the TyRex Family as a software intern and, since then, has built a unique skill set for himself, combining C# knowledge and LLM tool experience. As Senior Software Developer, Tim supports key development projects for Saber Data’s customers and focuses on expanding service offerings through the exploration of emerging technologies such as AI. In his free time, Tim enjoys disc golf, gaming and watching his favorite collegiate sports team, the Texas A&M Aggies.
