The Texas General Land Office, or GLO, is the oldest state agency in Texas – today this agency manages state lands, operates the Alamo, helps Texans recovering from natural disasters, helps fund Texas public education through the Permanent School Fund, provides benefits to Texas Veterans, and manages the vast Texas coast. Communicating in real time – with the public, with myriad partner agencies, and with each other across multiple teams spread across the state – is vital to the success of the GLO – perhaps most of all during disaster recovery efforts. With the challenge of time and personnel necessary to develop a turnkey solution to move communications into the modern age, the GLO engaged Saber Data for a full solution. The following is a success timeline enjoyed by this client after engaging our team.

  • RESEARCH, SELECTION AND PROCUREMENT: Microsoft Surface Hub was selected as the collaboration tool to be leveraged by the GLO and its partner agencies. Saber Data, a Certified Microsoft Reseller, leveraged its partner network to source the devices themselves, and worked diligently to leverage every available advantage made possible by the Surface Hub a reality for the GLO.
  • DEPLOYMENT, INSTALLATION AND TRAINING: Starting with a series of site surveys, Surface Hubs were deployed and installed in several COG (Councils of Government) locations. Our soup-to-nuts deployment and installation ensured that each Surface Hub was fully functional, configured, updated, network-connected, and ready to run applications used by the GLO staff at the touch of a button.
  • ONGOING TRAINING, MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT: Each deployment site was provided training by certified Microsoft Surface Hub Instructors. Saber Data continues to support and maintain all client Surface Hub Devices on an ongoing basis. This includes ongoing training to ensure the collaborative technology solution is utilized seamlessly.

Beyond the logistics of this business partnership, GLO staff reports back that extensive collaboration takes place via Surface Hubs daily – the devices are so popular amongst the staff that they’re often booked solid days in advance.
